I hope all of you are having a great weekend and working on some great YouTube videos :)
We have three announcements for this week:
1) An article on Documentary Tech website profiles Butterflies and the film's journey all the way to distribution and launch on YouTube
2) New Butterflies network has been established where you can join for free, interact and post your videos. Member's work gets featured each week
and we have forum's discussing your YouTube progress and other events.
3) The band that composed the theme song for Butterflies "I Saw Your Face" by Chinaski will be performing live in Los Angeles this month.

Butterflies Behind the Scenes
After crazy weekend on YouTube where most of you noticed Butterflies on the front page,
here are some new clips and interesting info from behind the scenes.
First, if you still didn't see the film, it is available for rent here.

You will find out why the characters featured in the film were picked and if Butterflies 2 is in the works :) Who should star in the next one?
Also, we started uploading the deleted scenes from the film to our Butterflies YouTube channel .

One of the first feature films distributed on YouTube is the Youtube documentary film Butterflies.
The independent film from European filmmaker Ester Brym has finished its festival run last year graduating with a couple of awards and going on to make history as one of the first films being available for rent on YouTube.
Butterflies is feature film following the
lives of six young people that are prominent 'weblebrities' on a video
site YouTube. The film explores the new media, its power and its
future. Will the Internet overcome traditional media? Will new media
and traditional media merge? The film documents the struggles and
successes of characters Lisanova, Mr. Safety, Davedays, Boheme, Olgakay
and Xgobobeanx and others and their hopes to become the new 'virtual' celebrities.
The film exposes the viral video star stardom and road to fortune.

Director's film debut reaches 10,000 downloads online
Ester Brym's feature documentary Butterflies focusing on the celebrity life of YouTube personalities have been downloaded over 10,000 times since its release online 6 weeks ago.
The film premiered in July 2009 at AOF film festival in LA and signed with UK distributor Journeyman Pictures in October.
The director shot this as her directing debut on a budget put together from her savings and credit cards.
